UNITED STATES DECLARES DIWALI AS A NATIONAL HOLIDAY.

The State of Pennsylvania in United States has declared the Hindu festival "Diwali" as there national holiday, Senator Nikil Saval tweeted on Wednesday.

(Pennsylvania is officially the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, which is a state spanning the Mid-Atlantic, Northeastern, Appalachian, and Great Lakes regions of the United States)

"The Senate voted unanimously to recognize Diwali as an official holiday! To all Pennsylvanians who celebrate this festival of light and connection: you are seen, you are welcome, you matter. Thank you, @rothman_greg, for the opportunity to join you in introducing this bill," Senator Nikil Saval wrote on Twitter.

State Senator Greg Rothman and Senator Nikil Saval introduced a legislation to make Diwali an official state holiday in Pennsylvania in February this year, My Twin Tiers reported.

Nearly 200,000 Indian American residents reside in Pennsylvania, many of whom participate in Diwali as a time of reflection and gathering, My Twin Tiers reported.

"Thousands of Pennsylvanians celebrate Diwali each year, including many residents of the 34th Senatorial District," Rothman said, adding, "Recognizing Diwali as an official state holiday upholds and celebrates our Commonwealth's rich cultural diversity."

"Every year, Diwali's festival of light and connection is celebrated at temples, houses of worship, and community centers across our Commonwealth," said Saval.

"Our Commonwealth’s official recognition of Diwali sends a clear message of inclusion to the thousands of Pennsylvanians who celebrate this festival of light and connection each year: you are seen, you are welcome, you matter," Saval said.

"It's a time for reflection on the endless struggle of light over darkness, offering us renewed clarity of purpose. This festival deserves official recognition, and I'm honored to join Senator

Rothman in bringing this to pass," Saval added.

The day people celebrate Diwali varies from year to year, however this year it will be observed on Nov. 12. Senate Bill 402 does not require school or government closings, My Twin Tiers reported.

GST - Positive And Negative Impacts.

Full form of GST is Good and Services tax. It is an indirect tax which is replaced by many indirect taxes. Goods and Service Tax Act was passed in the Parliament on 29th March 2017 and come into effect on 1st July 2017.

The theme is very crucial at this point of confluence where there are different factors that laid great emphasis in Indirect tax reform and it was eulogized as one of the biggest ever reform in India's Indirect taxes. The acronym for above elucidation is termed as GST which means Goods And Service tax. The above said refor plays a crucial role in improving the collection of taxes and alte brought transparency in this complex system.

The Government of India tried its level best in implementing the GST from July 1st 2017, where it had undergone paranola to bring political consensus among different political parties for Implementation. Though the committee was constituted in this regard in 1999 by NDA lead A. B. Vajpayee government but it crossed to look up to until now. The earlier period termed has uncertainty in indirect tax reform where double taxation was prevalent such as sales tax. octrol tax etc. Because, the manufacturers and sellers (retail level) have to pay the money. In order to derive a solution, the Government had brought the new tax reform and after implementing this modification the ease of doing business was increased.

Positive Impacts of GST:
One among the positive impacts of the GST is that it brought the transparency in the India's indirect tax reform. Moreover, consolidated the various taxes such as sales tax, central excise, and VAT the tax payers are Initiated to pay one tax. The GST is protected by the GSTN Integrated tax platform to deal with all aspects of GST. The implementation of the new system, has Increased the rank of the country in the category of doing business report published by the world bank and positioned itself at 30th rank. It removed the multiple tax system that was replaced with a new one. But, GST has two parts, central GST and state GST. GST is applied only at final point of consumption and now the entire tax regime is corruption free and transparent.

Negative Impacts of GST:
Some of the negative impacts of GST are that the system is claimed to have Inflicted damage to the real estate sector and also brought lots of confusion in the market due to the multiple tax slab system. There will be a heavy loss to some states such as Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu etc where the maximum number of companies and factories are present and this would dwindle the amount in indirect taxes. The intention of GST is to have an uniform rate system that was prevalent in all over the world, but contradicting to the presumption it was constituted into five tax slab systems. There were apprehensions among some business sectors such as Gold, textiles etc where implementation of the GST would be hindered for their business because due to surge in the price. The other impacts which it holds is increasing prices of service sector such as banking, telecom, airline etc. It will take some time for the people to get acquainted with the new system that was unleashed in the middle of the year. It is against the ONE NATION ONE TAX where multiple tax slabs are available. There are critics who blasted the government on the GST issue because the economists are claiming that it had slowed down the economy.

Hence, The Government of India's intention to launch GST is to bring transparency and efficiency in tax administration. It is eulogized by the Government of India as a long term reform.

Social Media's Impact On Society

"The Power of Social Media is that. It forces Necessary Change. Social media are computer mediated technologies that facilitate the creation and sharing of information and ideas via virtual communities and networks. Users typically access social media service via web-based technologies on their personal computers or smart-phones. Users can create highly interactive platforms through which individuals, communities and organizers can share, co-create, discuss and modify content posted online. It changes the way individuals and large organizations communicate Its outlet operates in a dialogic transmission method, te: many sources to many receivers, in context to the traditional media which operates under a monologic transmission method, Le: one source to many receivers. Some of the most popular social media websites are Facebook, Twitter Google+ and LinkedIn. In the recent years, social media has played a pivotal role in knitting the fabric of the Indian society. It has changed the Indian society from a naive society to a mature one.

Social media platforms provided Indians with a platform to raise their voice against injustice and inequality. People from the underprivileged society have always been suppressed by the upper class. Such oppressed people are now taking up their cases to social media to let the world know of the adversities done to them. A few decades ago. If a farmer died due to non repayment of loans, only the family mourned for the loss. But today, if the same happens, the entire nation seems to empathize with the death of such farmers, NGOs too get an impetus with the rising awareness of the concerns.

Social media is hot only confined to the common man but also the politicians. It plays a huge role in creating good Image of the politicians and influences the public to great extent. It's the real game changer with leaders having million fans on Twitter and supporters on Facebook and Google+. Former American president, Mr. Barack Obama and former Australian PM. Mrs. Julia Gillard hosted political conferences on Google+ hangouts and this trend was later followed by our Honorable PM, Mr. Narendra Modi when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. Even now, PM Modi is one of the most popular and influential politician active on social media Even Anna Hazzare's social media campaign against Corruption in India was a huge success.

Role of social media in business and consumer market in India cannot be undermined. Social media is used by various brands to build communities for Interaction and spreading awareness about their services. Every organization, be it big or small, has an online presence on various social media platforms. It also provides useful information about the behavior of customer to the organization on regular basis.
However like every good thing, it has a flip side as well. Yes, social media has various negative impacts like privacy issues. Information overloads and internet fraud. Though various social networking sites have come up "Privacy Setting facilities, yet we see many cases of privacy invasion and leakage of personal Information Individuals have thousands of friends on their "friend lat but none in real that one can count upon. Thus people end up being lonely in the real world. Researchers have found that hyper- networking leads to negative health behavior leading to laziness, obesity, depression, drug abuse, Isolation or in the worst cases it may even lead to suicide.

There are times when companies face a scenario where disgruntled employees speak their minds defaming the company's good name Social media platforms have also been famous for defaming and negatively portraying brands, companies, celebrities as well as members of general public

Social media has made the world a small space by allowing mass cultural exchange and intercultural communication. Such cultural mergers have proved to be ruinous for the Indian society. India being a secular country is a home for the people of various religious and cultural beliefs. When these beliefs clash the consequences are unpleasant. A mere comment or opinion on a certain belief on social media spreads like fire leading to ugly riots and destructive rallies Thus creating disturbance in life of common man

Social media and use of social networking sites is a trend that almost every Indian follows Social media helps to improve an Individual's sense of connectedness with the real or online communities. It is an effective marketing tool for corporations. entrepreneurs, NGOs, etc. At the same time, concern have been raised about possible links between its heavy usage and its ill effects on health issues or cyber bullying, online harassment and trolling. Just as everything has some good and bad side so is social media. Its impact on Indian society totally depends on how and why we Indians use it.

Definition And Types Of Talaq In Indian Constitution...

Talaq is the Arabic word for divorce. Triple Talaq is also known as Talaq-e-Biddat. It can also be called instant divorce and Talaq-e-Mughallazah (irrevocable divorce). It is a form of Islamic divorce which has been used by Indian Muslims, especially some adherents of Hanafk schools of jurisprudence. This can also be called oral Talaq. Triple Talaq is the process of divorce under Shariat Law (Islamic law) where a husband can divorce his wife by pronouncing Talaq' three times.

Under this law, wives cannot divorce husbands by the means of triple Talaq. Women have to move a court for divorcing her husband under the Muslim Personal Law (Shariat) Application Act 1937. (This Act was passed to make provisions for the application of Shariat or Islamic personal law to Muslims in India)

Types of Talaqs for Men-There are three types of divorce under Islamic law, namely, Ahsan. Hasan and Talaq-e-Bidda (triple Talaq). While Ahsan and Hasan are revocable, Talaq Biddat Is Irrevocable. Talaq-e-Ahsan is considered to be the bes form of divorce whereby a Muslim husband delivers one talaq and waits for it to become valid after three months Talaq-e-Hasan is the second-best form of divorce, authorized by the Quran, whereby a husband delivers one talaq each month for three months Both these forms of triple talaq are valid in India. Talaq-e-Biddat, aho as Instant triple talaq whereby a husband can three talaqs in one sitting, was banned by the Supreme Court on 22 August.

Lately. Triple Talaq has generated debate around the rights of Muslim women. The issue of divorce, marriage, and inheritance come under the purview of the Muslim Personal Laws. India has a provision for personal laws for all religious communities. Talaq for Woman-As per the traditional fiqh Khul' or Khula allows a woman to initiate a divorce through the mutual consent of the husband or a judicial decree. It is also referenced in the Quran and Hadith or Hadees (Prophet Mohammed's Sayings).

Arguments against Triple Talaq-. It goes against the rights of equality and women's empowerment. . It acts as a domination of men over women.

It is biased against women interests. It gave men the right to arbitrarily divorce their wives without any valid reason.

⚫ New technologies have given birth to new modes of Triple Talaq. For instance, through text messages, email. and Skype.

It goes against Article 14 (Right to Equality) and Article 15 (1). It states that there shall be no discrimination against any citizen on the basis of gender, race, etc.
Many Islamic predominantly Muslim countries, including Pakistan have banned triple talaq.
It does not go with the principles of gender equality, secularism, right to life of dignity, etc as per the Indian constitution.
The National Commission of Women says that this matter cannot be linked to uniform civil code.
Nevertheless, it should be banned to protect the interests of Muslim women.

The Supreme Court has also declared that this practice is unconstitutional and not protected by Article 25. Article 25 regards the freedom of religion. In December 2016, the Allahabad High Court had said that no personal law board was above the constitution. Experts also opine that only the essential or Integra features and aspects of a religion are protected by the Constitution. Triple Talaq was not an integral feature of islam Challenges in banning Triple Talaq-
(1) Religious groups Interpret the banning of a traditional practice as interfering in the religious aspects of Muslims (minorities). They believe that the present government is focused on Talaq-e-Biddat, which is already banned. It should raise voice against the other two forms of Talaq. which too are unilaterally delivered by a Muslim husband. Only the Talaq-e-Biddat. the instant triple talaq, is making controversy because the least educated section of Muslims misuses it. And they are very few in numbers.

(2) Many Muslim clerics say divorce and polygamy are not the main issues facing the Muslim community. They cite the Sachar Committee Report which tells that the majority of Muslims are close to the bottom of economic and educational indicators in the country.

(3) The courts should decide two things basically: o Whether personal law can be subject to the constitution not
How to view the relationship between Triple Talaq and Muslim personal law
Some Past rulings-Here are some of the past rulings on the related issue.

Shah Bano Case-In 1985, the SC granted Shah Bano, a 62 year old woman the right to alimony from her husband. Protection of Rights on Divorce-In 1986, the governmen passed the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Divorce) Act diluted the positive impact created by the Shah Bano case. Danial Latin & Anr v. Union of India case-In 2001. In the Danial Latin & Anr versus Union of India case, the SC upheld the validity of the Shah Bano Judgment.

The petition filed by Shayara Bano In August 2017, a five judge bench of the SC declared the Triple Talaq as unconstitutional in a majority 3:2 judgment. This was the culmination of a petition filed by Shayara Bano, whose husband of 15 years had divorced her through a letter where he pronounced talaq three times, to declare the divorce as void.

48 laws to become powerful (part -2)

25.
 RE-CREATE YOURSELF

Do not accept the roles that society foists on you. Re-create yourself by forging a new identity, one that commands attention and never bores the audience. Be the master of your own image rather than letting others define it for you. Incorporate dramatic devices into your public gestures and actions-your power will be en- hanced and your character will seem larger than.

26. KEEP YOUR HANDS CLEAN

You must seem a paragon of civility and efficiency: Your hands are never soiled by mistakes and nasty deeds. Maintain such a spotless appearance by using others as scapegoats and cat's-paws to disguise your involvement.

27. PLAY ON PEOPLE'S NEED TO BELIEVE TO CREATE A CULTLIKE FOLLOWING

People have an overwhelming desire to believe in some thing. Become the focal point of such desire by offering them a cause, a new faith to follow. Keep your words vague but full of promise, emphasize enthusiasm over ra tionality and clear thinking. Give your new disciples rit uals to perform, ask them to make sacrifices on your behalf. In the absence of organized religion and grand causes, your new belief system will bring you untold pourr.

28.  ENTER ACTION WITH BOLDNESS JUDGMENT

If you are unsure of a course of action, do not attempt it Your doubts and hesitations will infect your execution. Timidity is dangerous: Better to enter unth boldness. Any mistakes you commit through audacity are easily cor rected with more audacity. Everyone admires the bold; no one honors the timid.

29. PLAN ALL THE WAY TO THE END

The ending is everything. Plan all the way to it, taking into account all the possible consequences, obstacles, and twists of fortune that might reverse your hard work and give the glory to others. By planning to the end you will not be overwhelmed by circumstances and you will know when to stop. Gently guide fortune and help determine the future by thinking far ahead.

30. MAKE YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS SEEM EFFORTLESS

Your actions must seem natural and executed with ease All the toil and practice that go into them, and also all the clever tricks, must be concealed. When you art, art ef fortlessly, as if you could do much more. Avoid the temp tation of revealing how hard you work-it only raises questions. Teach no one your tricks or they will be used against you.

31. CONTROL THE OPTIONS: GET OTHERS TO PLAY WITH THE CARDS YOU DEAL

The best deceptions are the ones that seem to give the other person a choice: Your victims feel they are in control, but are actually your puppets. Give people options that come out in your favor whichever one they choose. Force them to make choices between the lesser of two evils, both of which serve your purpose. Put them on the horns of a dilemma: They are gored wherever they turn.

32. PLAY TO PEOPLE'S FANTASIES

The truth is often avoided because it is ugly and un pleasant Never appeal to truth and mality unless you are prepared for the anger that comes from disen chantment. Life is so harsh and distressing that people who can manufacture romance or compunesup fantasy are like oases in the desert Everyone flacks to them. The is great power in tapping into the fantasies of the masses.

33. DISCOVER EACH MAN'S THUMBSCREW

Everyone has a weakness, a gap in the castle wall. That weakness is usually an insecurity, an uncontrollable emotion or need; it can also be a sinall secret pleasure. Ei- ther way, once found, it is a thumbscrew you can turn to your advantage.

34. BE ROYAL IN YOUR OWN FASHION: ACT LIKE A KING TO BE TREATED LIKE ONE

The way you carry yourself will often determine how you are treated: In the long run, appearing vulgar or com mon will make people disrespect you. For a king respects himself and inspires the same sentiment in others. By act ing regally and confident of your powers, you make your self seem destined to wear a crown.

35. MASTER THE ART OF TIMING

Never seem to be in a hurry-hurrying betrays a lack of control over yourself, and over time. Always seem patient, as if you know that everything will come to you eventu ally. Become a detective of the right moment; sniff out the spirit of the times, the trends that will carry you to power Learn to stand back when the time is not yet ripe, and to strike fiercely when it has reached fruition.

36. DISDAIN THINGS YOU CANNOT HAVE: IGNORING THEM IS THE BEST REVENGE

By acknowledging a petty problem you give it existence and credibility. The more attention you pay an enemy, the stronger you make him; and a small mistake is often made worse and more visible when you try to fix it. It is sometimes best to leave things alone. If there is something you want but cannot have, show contempt for it. The less interest you real, the more superior you seem.

37. CREATE COMPELLING SPECTACLES

Striking imagery and grand symbolic gestures create the aura of power-everyone responds to them Stage specta cles for those around you, then, full of arresting visuals and radiant symbols that heighten your presence. Dax aled by appearances, no one will notice what you are really doing.

38. THINK AS YOU LIKE BUT BEHAVE LIKE OTHERS

If you make a show of going against the times, flaunting your unconventional ideas and unorthodox ways, people will think that you only want attention and that you look down upon them. They will find a way to punish you for making them feel inferior. It is far safer to blend in and nurture the common touch. Share your original ity only with tolerant friends and those who are sure to appreciate your uniqueness.

39. STIR UP WATER TO CATCH FISH

Anger and emotion are strategically counterproductive. You must always stay calm and objective. But if you can make your enemies angry while staying calm yourself, you gain a decided advantage. Put your enemies off-bal ance Find the chink in their vanity through which you can rattle them and you hold the strings.

40. DESPISE THE FREE LUNCH

What is offered for free is dangerous-it usually involves either a trick or a hidden obligation. What has worth is worth paying for. By paying your own way you stay clear of gratitude, guilt, and deceit. It is also often wise to pay the full price-there is no cutting corners with excel lence. Be lavish with your money and keep it circulat ing, for generosity is a sign and a magnet for power.

41. AVOID STEPPING INTO A GREAT MAN'S

What happens first always appears better and more origi nal than what comes after. If you succeed a great man or have a famous parent, you will have to accomplish dow Ne their achievements to outshine them.
